Weight limitations on a parking deck suspended slab led Skystone Projects to select CemteQ for the supply of lightweight walling for new battery rooms at The Campus in Bryanston. The weight of the structures was required to be 650kg/m³ which was achieved using CemteQ’s 140mm lightweight concrete blocks. Recycled polystyrene, which would otherwise end up in landfills, is carefully graded and coated for use as an aggregate replacement and then mixed with cement and additives to form these lightweight blocks. One of the ingredients we also use in our blocks is perlite which assists in achieving a 2-hour fire-rating, one of the requirements for these battery rooms. Our PlasterteQ master plaster was used to provide a smooth finish.
