Fox Street, Johannesburg roof deck – almost 800m3 of CemteQ 600D
Refurbishing old buildings to standard often challenges professional teams to look at innovative building technologies that will provide the necessary structural, fire rating and thermal insulation requirements.

The Gauteng provincial treasury building is one of those buildings. The concrete roof area, covering 3900m² has been insulated with an average of 200mm thick CemteQ 600D lightweight concrete screed. The challenges of materials handling on a 10-storey building was eased through providing a manageable 42kg, pre-blended and bagged product which was mixed and placed in-situ on the roof.
