Light Steel Frame with lightweight concrete

50mm thick CemteQ 600 density lightweight polystyrene concrete was used as a floor screed on top of a Light Steel Frame floor joist and corrugated metal sheeting on a project in Blairgowrie, Randburg.

The screed was specified to reduce impact sound and create a solid floor without adding excessive weight to the structure. The lightweight screed was finished with ceramic tiles.

CemteQ 600D has a cured density of between 600 and 650kg/m3 with a compressive strength of 2.1MPa and a thermal conductivity of 0.1335W/m.K.

CemteQ’s polystyrene-based lightweight concrete premixes comprise recycled polystyrene aggregate blended with the correct ratio of cement and admixtures. The composite products are specially formulated to be mixed with water onsite for lightweight screeds, concrete and infill. Various densities are produced and supplied in either 100l or 50l bags, dependent on densities, for ease of handling on site.

CemteQ’s PlasterteQ silica sand-based plaster was also used on the project.
